Fabrics from 3Beaches & Sunbrella

Fabrics are an all-time favourite thing for me to select when designing homes. I especially enjoy discovering fabrics for the outdoors as I love how we are using our outdoor spaces more and more. As a designer, I find myself inundated with beautiful textile options – there are so many choices! One frequent challenge for both designers and homeowners is choosing outdoor fabrics that work together with indoor selections, as it can be tricky to create that seamless connection.

Over the past few years I have loved working with the incredibly talented girls from 3Beaches Textiles. Their designs and colourways are just beautiful, and we love that they are Australian designers! Their fabrics are also manufactured by Sunbrella, a company with an impeccable reputation for manufacturing fabrics for use inside the home, outside by the pool, in commercial spaces and for use on boats. We find ourselves choosing 3Beaches and Sunbrella fabrics often for a few reasons:

Quality

As a performance fabric, they are easy to clean, fadeproof and water resistant, and suitable for both inside and outdoor use. The Sunbrella brand is known for legendary performance, and we know we can trust the brand promise with an industry leading 5-year warranty on fade resistance – a perfect solution for our Australian climate!

Versatility

Sunbrella fabrics for indoor or outdoor use are soft to handle, so can be used inside by the window or on your bed but are also ultra-durable and suitable for use outside by the pool. At the Farmhouse, we used the fabrics all throughout the house, on our outdoor furniture, and even on our umbrellas. We also love that homeowners don’t have to worry over bringing the cushions and throws indoors when extreme weather hits. One less thing to worry over when the seasons shift!

Durability

Sunbrella fabrics are also a very practical choice for red wine drinkers as well as homes with children or pets as it is bleach cleanable (without changing colour), though most stains can be easily removed with a gentle detergent or even just soap and water. 3Beaches carries a wide range of Sunbrella patterns, colours, and textures in their product line – all of which are bleach cleanable since the performance is built into the core fiber of the fabrics.

Exclusivity

For the Farmhouse Project, we chose to use Sunbrella because it is an industry leader in performance textiles, manufactured in the USA.  And 3Beaches offers a bespoke product line with an exclusive relationship with Sunbrella. The line is stocked in Australia by an Australian-owned company and each pattern design starts as artwork from the designers Niamh (Neeve) Brennan and Sonya Romeo.

3Beaches offers a wide variety of patterns, stripes and solid colours that come in a range of textures and colours and are suitable for residential, commercial and marine use.

Bring Spaces to Life I think the most important point is these fabrics make your indoor and outdoor spaces sing. The colourways are beautiful, and the design patterns are divine. It really creates a bespoke designer feel in any area.

How Your Smart Home Can Help With COVID-19

We are all much aware nowadays of the tremendous effort to keep our hands clean and how touching surfaces can become a deadly weapon to us all. As we know, Coronavirus is extremely contagious and can stick on surfaces for two to five days.

Hand washing and sanitising is vitally important and anything that can minimise physical touch must also be explored.

One of the best ways to help beat this is to have devices in our homes that can be voice activated too, so touching is not necessary. Quantify Technology have come up with such an amazing device – their smart home solution can be controlled via touch, app or voice!!

Voice activation can be used to control so many things around the home, including:

  1. Turning on, off and dimming lights, opening and closing blinds and turning on and off TV’s, which can eliminate the bacterial transmission associated with the touching of switches, buttons or remotes;
  2. Turning on and off appliances, such as the kettle
  3. You can set up sequences or scenes for convenience, which means you can control multiple light groups and appliances at once.

The benefits are endless…

Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant are the primary smart speaker/ voice activation providers in Australia and work efficiently on this platform.

So, when thinking of smart home automation now or for the future, take a look at the Quantify devices as we did for our Hampton’s Farm project, so you too can reap the benefits of voice control and keep your home hygienic and safe.
